The Circle of Young Humanitarians (CYH) was founded to address a growing challenge: many young people feel disconnected from humanitarian efforts and unsure of their power to make a difference. In a world where conflict and crises dominate the headlines, this disconnect has far-reaching consequences.
At the CYH, we believe in the power of youth and the strength of community to create a better future. Our mission is to bridge the gap between young people and humanitarian work, fostering spaces for learning, connection, and action. By collaborating with leading organizations like the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), we empower the next generation to build a culture of empathy and responsibility—shining a light in even the darkest times.

From Learning to Lasting Impact
At the CYH, we transform passion into action. Our events, including the YHS, interactive forums, workshops, fairs, a podcast, and educational campaigns, have already empowered over 1,000 young people to take meaningful steps in their communities. Our platforms not only provide the opportunity to learn about armed conflicts and the humanitarian world, but also to exchange with leaders in the field and to contribute your own ideas and passions. We build a bridge between organizations and young people, giving the latter access to volunteering opportunities and encouraging them to contribute in other ways in every aspect of their lives. Additionally, we give our partner organisations the possibility to engage with young people to help them solve their current challenges. Through this dialogue and engagement, young people will transcend from a stage of helplessness to a sense of agency. By donating, you'll enable us to make this important exchange possible.
Our reach is growing, and with your help, we will provide even more formats and opportunities to exchange and change, expand across Switzerland and beyond, and give even more young people the tools to advocate for humanitarian values.
We believe that through awareness and understanding, we can build trust and self-agency, which can lead to cultural and systemic change. Your contribution truly makes a difference!

Our Story: A Mission Born from Compassion
The CYH began as an idea shared by three young visionaries who believed in their generation’s power to reshape the future. Founder Kay von Mérey, during an internship with the ICRC in 2020, saw a troubling reality: few young people in Switzerland understood the scope and urgency of humanitarian work.
Determined to change this, Kay partnered with friends Jessica Eberhart and Leonie Basler, officially founding the CYH in 2022. Since then, our nonprofit association has grown into a thriving community of over 40 active members, united by a commitment to put empathy, action, and compassion at the heart of the world’s future.

The Circle of Young Humanitarians creates a bridge between young people and humanitarian commitment by offering educational formats, networking and practical activities. Young people are encouraged to take on social responsibility, realise their ideas and actively work for the good of others. The initiative promotes values such as empathy, solidarity and team spirit, which are crucial for a just world. By creating platforms for exchange with experts and like-minded people, the project inspires long-term commitment and promotes a new generation of humanitarians.
We will send the donation receipt (for Switzerland) in January of the following year.
