A prosthetic leg for Farith
Project SummaryFarith lost his leg in an accident. With a prosthetic leg, he will be able to live more independently again and pursue his dream of training in the industrial field. Support him with a donation toward his prosthetic leg!
Background
Due to a tragic motorbike accident on the 1st of July 2021 in Esmeraldas (Ecuador), Farith had to have his left leg amputated. Farith is my sister and I's cousin - my mum's nephew - and it is very important for us to support him in this difficult situation. The health care system in Esmeraldas is outdated. Also, there is no insurance system that would support him financially in such a situation. The only possibility for Farith to lead a somewhat normal life is by means of a prosthetic leg. Unfortunately, a prosthetic leg costs between 20,000 and 40,000 US dollars, the higher the cost, the better the quality. We focus on the minimum amount because it is more realistic to achieve. Nevertheless, we would be happy if we reached a higher sum. In order to make a first down payment possible, we rely on your help. Please help Farith with a donation.

We want to enable Farith to get a prosthetic leg so that he can stand on two legs again and walk through life independently.
In Esmeraldas (Ecuador) there is no health insurance or IV insurance like there is in Switzerland. This means that my cousin Farith and my family have to bear all costs on their own. A good minimum wage in Ecuador is a mere 386 US dollars a month, so it is impossible to finance such a high amount with these wages.
It is not fair that he does not receive any support in such a bad situation just because he lives in a poor country. As we ourselves are still in training and have no income of our own, it is not possible for us and my mother here in Switzerland to cover all the costs, including the prosthetic leg. The accident has also affected Farith psychologically, leaving him in need of professional support and care in this area as well. In addition, this kind of medical care does not exist in Esmeraldas, so Farith has to travel to the capital (Quito). The journey takes 6-7 hours. Since he does not have any other means of support, apart from crutches that are too small for him, his mother has to accompany him. She does not receive any salary for the days she accompanies her son, which reduces her income even more.

Implementation
With your support, we can cover the cost for a prosthetic leg. This would significantly improve Farith's quality of life. It would be possible for him to go to school again, learn a trade and generally be more independent. Farith's dream is to complete his education in the industrial sector. He would also like to be able to walk independently again without restrictions. Another of Farith's wishes is to be able to walk his dog again. The prosthetic leg would have a lasting impact on his life and would give him the chance to live as self-determined a life as possible.

With his mobility restored, he can once again live independently and pursue an education.
