Equipment for successful therapy at Paulihof

Many thanks for your support, which meant we were able to complete the project successfully.
Project SummaryFinancial support needed for healing education with animals and nature experience for traumatised children. Animals from poor conditions and children experience the process of healing together. This is where child protection and animal welfare come together.

Background

The Paulihof - Healing Education with Animals and Nature Experience, is an stationary curative-educational-therapeutic residential group for traumatised children and adolescents. In the residential group we offer places for 7 children. Up to 60 animals that need to be looked after live at Paulihof.
With the help of the animals, the young people can regain trust, get involved in relationships and heal in a holistic sense, body - mind - and soul.
The special feature of the animal-assisted intervention at Paulihof - Healing Pedagogy with Animals and Experiencing Nature - is that we take in animals that often come from bad homes, are neglected, no longer wanted and are sometimes also fearful. The children often see themselves in the animals, identify with them and go through the process of healing together. This is where child protection and animal welfare come together.
We need your financial support for this and would like to thank you in advance, also in the name of the children and animals, for your donation.

Idea

Because of the different types of animals and their strengths, we can develop approaches and methods that suit each of the children individually. The children are given tasks that they have to master with their animal over a certain period of time and thus recognise their strength. Courage and hope develop, limitations are overcome and trust can grow. Animal and human become one.

Implementation

We have got new mares and need new equipment to practice with the horses. Horses are very sensitive animals and training with them should give the children self-confidence and a higher self-esteem. We can use this all year round due to our large paddock and indoor riding arena.
We mainly need obstacle poles and blocks to set up courses through which our children can and should lead their horses. Here, a bond should develop between child and horse that will accompany them the whole time and will not get separated. The children and young people thus develop a sense of responsibility and ambition to get to know the horse better and to overcome large "obstacles". They also need aids to get on the horse's back in a horse-friendly way.
At our open day, the children and young people also have the opportunity to present what they have learned to their parents, relatives, friends and acquaintances.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts

Thanks to your support we were able to successfully complete the donation appeal. Now we will be able to carefully select the new equipment. We are very much looking forward to trying it out with the children and horses.

Dear friends, dear supporters of the Paulihof

Thank you very much for the many donations, with which it is now possible to complete this project. We have already started looking for suitable equipment and will be able to get it in the next few weeks.

We are incredibly relieved, because the therapy with horses is very important to us here at the farm. Thanks to you we can close the old year with a good mood and start the new one with a lot of hope.

We wish you all a merry and healthy Christmas.

Your Ulrike Heigenmooser and the whole Paulihof-Team
