Frida needs a new hip
Project SummaryAfter the little dog was rescued from a garbage bag from Romania, she needs help again. Frida suffers from a painful malformation of the hip joints and urgently needs surgery. Donate now!
After looking for a dog for six years and seeing Frida's ad on a shelter page, I knew immediately: this is her! Frida, who is now one year old, was found with her siblings on the side of the road in Romania in a garbage bag and rescued. After four months she came to me in Germany through an animal welfare organization. Only a short time after her arrival she had more and more difficulties with walking until she could hardly stand up anymore. The vet diagnosed a bilateral hip dysplasia. A hip dysplasia is a malformation of the hip joints. In this case, the condyle does not sit properly in the socket, which is why it often pops out. The cartilages rub against each other, which after some time destroys the natural shock-absorbing function of the cartilages and can lead to hip joint arthrosis. All this causes severe pain, depending on the load.
After the first operation did not quite achieve the hoped-for result, the only thing that can help now is a new artificial hip. However, since her bones are very thin and conditions in general are very poor, no standard prosthesis can be used. Therefore, a hip made individually for her has to be inserted. Since I am a student, I unfortunately lack the means to help my beloved bitch. Frida should now get an artificial hip. Since she is only one year old and still has her whole life ahead of her, this is a very important and also very relieving step for her as far as her pain is concerned.
The surgery will be implemented in the coming months at the animal hospital in Zurich. The doctors are currently in the process of evaluating the data for a hip that will fit her and then make the new hip. The vet informed us that the cost of the surgery will be between CHF 6'000 and CHF 6'500. If the donation goal is reached, 10% will go to there-for-you.com, with the full balance of CHF 6'300 then going towards the surgery.

I had big doubts if this high amount will be collected at all - and now I am more than overwhelmed that it even worked out in such a short period of time. Currently, we are still waiting for the completion of the artificial joint.
About 3 weeks ago I was called by the clinic and was told that the prototype is currently being made in Spain. Afterwards it will be tested in the animal hospital in Zurich if it is perfectly adapted to Frida's body and if it will solve her problem in the long run. If this is given, the original joint will be printed and we will look for a free surgery date.

Malformations of joints occur repeatedly in both humans and animals, are extremely unpleasant and often cause severe pain. The only solution is the insertion of a new joint. The little dog Frida is a special case. Frida, who is only one year old, needs a prosthesis specially made for her so that she can go through life pain-free again. It will also be a great relief for Rebecca when her faithful four-legged friend can jump around again without a care in the world.
