Humanitarian Help for Pakistan after Flood
Project SummarySince June, Pakistan has been hit by severe floods, 70% of the country is under water. Messages de Vie has been involved in Pakistan before and would like to help again in this emergency situation with emergency aid packages. Help 1'000 families to receive emergency aid!
Background
Pakistan is a country in South Asia, surrounded by Iran, Afghanistan, China, India and the Arabian Sea. Pakistan is one of the countries most affected by natural disasters and climate change in the world. In addition, poverty and social inequality are also a major challenge, aggravated by natural disasters.
Since June 2022, the country has been suffering from a catastrophic monsoon.
The result:
Messages de Vie Switzerland has been involved in Pakistan since last year, even before this flood. In 2021, we conducted a charity action there and distributed food, and kits for children, homeless, women, and families where hundreds of food parcels and an envelope of 50 USD per family were distributed.
In March 2022, we organised a gala dinner to raise funds for the orphans of Pakistan. The financial support could be sustained for three months.
We tell you these things to assure you that we do not want to take advantage of current events to make a name for ourselves. On the contrary, we have been committed to Pakistan since 2021 and have established important relationships.

Messages de Vie Switzerland has been involved in Pakistan since last year, even before this flood. Idea
In view of the emergency situation of the Pakistani population, the Messages de Vie Suisse association will organise an emergency humanitarian aid mission starting from the end of September 2022.
The aim of this action is to provide support and essential donations (food parcel, clothes, medicines). Donate, let your generosity speak so that we have the necessary budget for our action.
We would like to help 1000 families with emergency packages, for this we need 40'000 CHF (30'000 emergency packages, 6'000 transport and logistics, 4'000 transaction fees and commission platform).

Implementation
The emergency packages, worth 30€ per package, contain: a large bag of rice, noodles, muesli, soap, toothpaste, canned food.
1) The first phase of distribution has already started and is funded by our local partners. See the attached photos of our local partners distributing. So far, about 100 families have been helped. However, we want to do more.
2) The second phase of distribution will take place at the end of September, with the person in charge of Messages de Vie Suisse (Pierre Latte). 2 large regions will be affected by the second wave of distribution. We would like to help 1'000 families.
3) A third wave of support is planned for mid-November, early December.

Messages de Vie is an international Christian missionary organisation founded in 1996 and present in Africa, Europe and the Americas. It has been present in Switzerland since 2016.
Messages de Vie Switzerland works with vulnerable populations to whom we provide support, comfort and assistance in Switzerland, Africa and in the Middle East.
Without subsidies, our interventions are financed by donations and the generosity of our members.

Impact analysis by there for you specialists
The floods in Pakistan are causing great suffering in the country. Homes and hospitals have been destroyed by the floods and some regions are completely cut off from supplies. The most urgent need now is emergency aid with essential goods such as food, as planned in the project. In addition, Messages de Vie has important local contacts through its previous engagement in Pakistan. This means that the planned emergency aid can be deployed where help is needed most.
